How to boot the Samsung Galaxy S2 into recovery mode

How to boot the Samsung Galaxy S2 into recovery mode

September 13, 2011

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 today and the actual rooting process went great. Afterwards I made a complete NANDroid backup with ClockworkMod Recovery and I also did a backup of all my apps with Titanium Backup – since I now enjoyed root access Titanium could also backup all the Market links. However, after I [...]

How to root the Samsung Galaxy S2 [Tutorial]

Here’s a no-frills and fool proof guide to rooting the Samsung Galaxy S2. The SGS2 is a great smartphone and it’s even better with root access. Let’s rock. 1) Download Odin3-v1.85.zip from the xda-developers forum and extract it on your computer to the folder of your choice. 2) Now you need to grab the correct [...]

Techcredo’s Android Market QR codes WordPress plugin

Techcredo’s Android Market QR codes WordPress plugin

March 30, 2011

Surround any link to an Android app in the Web Market or on AppBrain.com with “qr” “/qr” in brackets, and this plugin will create a clickable QR code for that app. You can also just supply the name of the app, but the first two methods are recommended. The appearance of the QR codes can [...]

Android on Crack – Cat Stevens Remix

Android on Crack – Cat Stevens Remix

March 26, 2011

By chance, I listened to the Cat Stevens song Don’t Be Shy while watching the hysterical and hilarious “Android on Crack” video with the YouTube sound turned off. With this new musical backdrop, I felt the dance became an inspirational and heartfelt performance piece by a slightly bewildered Android that’s not shy anymore, that’s finally [...]

This dancing Android on crack is exceptionally entertaining

This dancing Android on crack is exceptionally entertaining

March 24, 2011

I’m not entirely sure what to say about this feverishly dancing Android and its mighty moves, but seeing is believing. The title of the video on YouTube is “Android on crack…lol”, and it’s pretty descriptive. I can’t stop laughing watching this clip – it’s wonderfully offbeat.

In defense of the custom Android UI

In defense of the custom Android UI

March 20, 2011

Many people, particularly Android purists, of course, frown upon custom Android user-interfaces. They want the vanilla Android experience – Android the way Google made it, and usually think custom UIs look bad, are bloated, poorly made, and slow down the OS update process. In a way I agree, and I haven’t used HTC’s Sense interface [...]

The official and unusually stylish LG Revolution wallpapers

The official and unusually stylish LG Revolution wallpapers

March 16, 2011

Unlike HTC, LG is a phone manufacturer that seems to include a different set of wallpapers on most of its handsets. Several of these wallpapers are quite nice as well: both the LG Optimus and the Optimus 2X have a few gems. But the default LG Revolution wallpapers are probably the best ones yet from [...]

Quick game review: Stellar Escape by Orange Agenda

Quick game review: Stellar Escape by Orange Agenda

March 15, 2011

I won’t write much about Stellar Escape here: the first game from Swedish newcomer Orange Agenda, because the demo video below does a pretty good job showing what it’s about. What I can say is this: entertaining gameplay, great on-screen controls, excellent graphics using the Unity 3D engine, and OpenFeint integration with online leaderboards. There [...]

Thanks to task switcher ClutchPad v1.5, I can finally say goodbye to my Android’s Back button

Thanks to task switcher ClutchPad v1.5, I can finally say goodbye to my Android’s Back button

March 14, 2011

About two months ago, I contacted Steve Albright – the developer behind the task switcher Clutch. I just wanted to thank him for what I personally thought was a fine app that I had used since it first was released. I also suggested some visual improvements such as additional padding between the app icons, and [...]

More honest versions of Apple’s iPad and iPhone promo videos from Conan O’Brien and JLE

More honest versions of Apple’s iPad and iPhone promo videos from Conan O’Brien and JLE

March 13, 2011

Apple’s commercials for its mobile devices are usually full of buzzwords, exaggerations and people looking possessed and/or born-again. I personally think they’re a bit creepy. Late night talk show host Conan O’Brien decided to make his own version of the iPad 2 launch video – a more honest one, if you will. I have also [...]
